The following is not intended to be a scholarly work.
This is just my attempt to sort out the family, and to place online a set of records for the mutual benefit of all researchers working on this line. I have attempted to organize the Swallows into family groups who descend from the original settlers in Overton County, Tennessee. It has been extremely difficult.
I know there must be numerous errors.

Short Orlena     2    F        Tenn.		 Polina Swallows  and Ambrose Gore were married briefly and divorced. Polina is by herself with the 3 children in 1860, next door to her widowed father. Ambrose was most likely in Kentucky where he soon married his second wife Mary F Jackson, but he does not appear on any census.

Rosana Harrison is charged with 'lewdness'. [mother of Noah and Josiah Swallows] Lewdness suggests the female defendant was less than fully clothed and although she is not charged with prostitution the charge suggests that may have been the case.
On the same page from the court record, Jacob Swallows is charged with 'tippling'.  Tippling is the serving of liquor, usually by the shot.

In 1860, Isaac Reuben was in Daviess Co., Indiana.
Sometime in the 1870's, a John G. and a Rebecca SWALLOWS, sibling to Isaac Reuben, followed him to Daviess Co.  Reuben and Bethona also had children
named John G. Swallows. and Rebecca Swallows who correspond in age to those that went to Daviess Co.  There is one discrepancy, however: in 1860, Isaac Reuben Swallows is enumerated in Daviess Co., IN, and an Isaac is also enumerated with Reuben and Bethona.  I theorize that possibly Reuben or Bethona gave the census taker the names of all of their children, whether actually living in the house or not.
