I think Frances is beautiful.  It appears that she is wearing traditional Indian clothing with traditional colors.

1.  FRANCES  HAMMOCK  (LEWIS WILLIAM2, JOHN1) was born June 1812, and died August 1898 in Putnam co, TN (Brotherton Cemetery).  She married ISAAC JEFFERSON COPELAND SR. SWALLOWS, son of JACOB SWALLOWS and SARAH COPELAND.  He was born 1808 in Overton Co., TN, and died 1894

NOTES:

Frances was a full blooded Cherokee Indian, this was not her Indian name it is a name given to her by the white people. She was married to Isaac in what is now called Monterey, Tennessee.  All of her descendents say she is Cherokee but we have no proof. One of her descendents has her picture and a clay pipe that she smoked. My grandfather was born in 1886 and knew her. He also said she was full-blooded Cherokee. Again, I have found no proof... Frances Hammock b. 1812 d. 1898. Father was Lewis or William, mother unknown. This lady is my ggg grandmother. Any clues would be appreciated.  I think they were born in Watauga Co. NC. They died in Overton Co TN. Source: Johnnie Mae Dillard.

Bilbrey.  She married (1) Isaac Jefferson Copeland Sr. Swallows.  He was born 1808 in Overton Co., TN, and died 1894.  He was the son of Jacob Swallows and Sarah Copeland.
