This line begins with Goldman Benton CARDEN, as I am not certain about
his
parents. They might have been Robert CARDEN, b. abt. 1742 and
his 2nd
wife, Elizabeth ROBARDS. They might also have been Robert CARDEN,

and his wife Lockey HUNT, born 1766. His family is most likely
the Robert
CARDEN and family, who were in the 1810 Stokes Co, NC, census and the
1830-1840 Grainger (now Union) Co, TN, censuses. It is also probable
that
at least some of his siblings were Ancel L. CARDEN, born 1795, who
married
Nancy MERRITT; William Thornburgh CARDEN, Sr., born 12 Apr 1798, who
married Winifred DYER; Sarah Hazeltine CARDEN, born 1801, who married

Co, TN and Rosannah "Rose" MONROE, born 11 Nov 1814 in Rogersville,
Hawkins Co, TN, died 16 Dec 1891 in Clinton, Anderson Co, TN.

8 Dec 1904 in Knoxville, Knox Co, TN, and Martha Elizabeth CARNS, born

James Carden ca 1820-1897 md. Ann Blackwell ca 1826-1898 emmigrated
to Boston via Liverpoole autumn 1850. Ann was sister to my gr.grandmother
Alice Blackwell. James and Ann lived in Mountaindale, NY, Sullivan Co.
There were two more generations of James Carden's and then the line
seemed to die out.
James 1820-1897 came from Ballina Co Mayo.
My interests are the Cardens of the Ballina area and also any descendants
who may surface in this country.
I am pleased to hear from any Ballina/ NY, PA, Carden types.

Perhaps some of you have come across parts of my family in your research.
My line of Cardens lived in Coosa County, Alabama. My Gt Grandfather's
name is Ben Carden. My Gr. father is Albert, and my father is Ocie. I can't
seem to discover who Ben's father was or where they lived. Any help would
be
appreciated.

I'm still trying to track down the parentage of my great-grandmother, Maria Carden, born in Ireland and an immigrant to western New York. Inquiries to the various family search organizations and parishes in Tipperary and Galway have not met with any success as yet.
1. Unknown... New Inn? Newinn? Cashel?
Tipperary or Galway? Family
tradition has always been this was Sir John Craven Carden, 4th Bt.,
of
Templemore, but this is not born out by peerage or local parish records.
Children:
2. i
Maria Carden b. 27 Aug 1847.
3. ii
Alice Carden b. __ ___ c1854.
iii
Elizabeth Carden. Elizabeth Carden Lloyd was the sister of Maria Carden
Hevenor.
Second Generation
2. Maria Carden b. 27 Aug 1847, New Inn, Ireland, m. 03 Mar 1870, in St. Peter's Episcopal, Philadelphia, PA, Richard Hevenor, b. 5 Feb 1841, Kilchreest, County Galway, Ireland, (son of Charles George Hevenor and Margaret Gloster) d. 9 Feb 1922, Salamanca, New York. Maria died 3 Aug 1928, Salamanca, New York.
She and Richard Hevenor were childhood sweethearts. She emigrated to America, entering at Philadelphia soon after Richard had established himself in Salamanca. Richard met her in Philadelphia and they married March 3, 1870 in St. Peter's Episcopal Church. St. Peter's reports the "witness" was J. Bernard W. Carden Jr., which I interpret to be two witnesses, one of whom was W. Carden, Jr. I have no clue who he might have been.
3. Alice Carden b. __ ___ c1854, Ireland,
m. 28 Oct 1878, in Salamanca, New York, Charles S. Hevenor, b. __ ___ c1854,
New York. Alice died 1928.
