Miscellaneous Augustine Notes

Following are various notes on people on this site which while interesting are not voluminous enough to justify having an entire page devoted to them. The notes are in alphabetical order.

Elizabeth Agoston - Stayed in Hungary even though most of her family came to the USA.

Vincent Agoston - Stayed in Hungary even though most of his family came to the USA. According to Myrle Augustine, "He stayed in the old country and worked the family farm."

Fannie Augustine - Came to the USA from Hungary probably sometime between 1890 and 1910.

George James (Jimmy) Augustine Jr., Ph.D. is a professor at Duke University, Durham, NC.

Gerard John Augustine - Famly legend has it that Gerard was a professional baseball player until the owner of the team overheard him complaining about something after which he was promptly fired. Played for St. Louis Cardinals? Had a reputation as being something of a lady's man in his youth.

Helen Marie Augustine Smith - daughter of Benjamin M. Augustine and Bertha Mary Wassum.  She worked for the Marine Corp.

Bobbie (Roberta) - She was a great beauty. Round face, black hair. In her late teens ran away from home and became a burlesque dancer. Her father found her, bellowed loudly, ran onto the stage, and dragged her off while she was doing the splits.  She married the first-chair violinist in the Zigfield Follies orchestra.  Bobbie was a cousin, and had a twin brother, and that was raised in Pennsylvania.

Joseph John Augustine, Sr. - Worked for America West Airlines as of 1997.

Louise Eileen Augustine - Much of the information contained in these files concerning the life and decendants of George John Augustine, son of John Joseph Augustine, came from Louise Eileen.

Isbelle Ben - Full blooded Cree Indian

Jarvis James Carden - Murdered in an armed robbery while driving his taxi cab. It was a Yellow Cab #72. Linda Kaye Eddings, his ex-wife said that she recieved a letter from a woman in Germany who claimed that she had a daughter by Jarvis. Jarvis was stationed in Germany for a year while he was in the Army and said that he had a mistress while he was there. The letter has been lost and attempts to confirm the existence of the child have so far failed.

Thor Foy Carden - Where did the name "Thor" come from? Thor's mom was reading a book by Thor Hyerdahl while recuperating from Thor's birth. In the back fly leaf she wrote that she was considering naming Thor either Thor Foy or Thomas Michael. Foy comes from his father's grandmother's maiden name.

Fabian Arthur Dove & Marie Eleanor Dove were apparently given into the care of their father after a difficult custody battle following the divorce of their parents. We would love to make contact with them again. Also, it is thought that they may have their mother's doll collection of which we would like to have photographs.

Vera Ellen Gulon - Her grandfather was Hungarian

Lawrence Bradford "Brad" Haskin - In the Air force during Viet Nam era. Studied languages - Lao, Thai, Cambodian

Lawrence "Larry" Howard Haskin, Jr. - Still active in consulting as of 1997.

John William LaBohert - Alternate spellings for this surname abound in the various notes. Behren, LeBehret, Boheir, LaBoeheir are all possibilities just as good as LaBohert.

Ed Sangary - Half Cree, Half French Canadian

Brandon West Tingley - Ph.D. candidate at the University of MA

David Justin Tingley - helped build a chapel at the Richmond, VA Airport that his mother designed
